How to read tab or tablature

TABLATURE

Tab short for Tablature is the major language for guitarist. This is how we communicate and how we transcribe songs, solos, intros, etc. into notes. Tab makes it easy for guitarist to learn music or a particular song from intro to ending. Tab makes the life of a guitarist easy.

Tablature consists of 6 lines that represents the number of strings. It is presented as an inverted guitar. The bottom line is your lower E or your number 6 string on the guitar. That's why it is at the bottom because it translates to a lower pitch. Then highest or the first line of your tab is the high E or the 1st string of your guitar. That's why it's the top line because it translates to your high E.

You will see on the tab, numbers which represents the fret number. Also you will see 0 and x, it represents open string or dead string.

Tabs can be used to learn chords, strumming, picking, learning scales, intro, outro, adlib or solos.
