WHICH GUITAR TO BUY
First thing's first, if you really want to learn to play the guitar, you will need to have one. So the question is which guitar will I buy? Which guitar suits me? How do I choose the guitar that is right for me? The answer relies with you. You are the one who can answer these questions.
Right, there are lots of guitar to choose from but here are some tips to consider.
1. Choose the guitar that is base on what you like to play or listen to. For example if you are into classical music or latin jazz then a Classical guitar is best for you. If you are into folk, country or blues music, then an Acoustic guitar would be your best choice. And if you are into rock or heavy metal, then an Electric guitar would be your first guitar.
2. Choosing based on comfortability or convenience. Meaning a Classical guitar is more comfortable to start learning how to play compared with an Acoustic guitar because of the strings which is nylon rather than a steel. Or an acoustic guitar weigh less than the electric guitar. Or the electric guitar is easy to play and more quieter because you can plug an earphone using a practise amp. There are tons of reason why you choose certain type of guitar.
3. Another criteria is affordability or price. Nowadays, there are loads of guitars to choose from so price is not an issue. There are tons of reviews on the internet on which brands/manufacturers to choose in buying guitar. It's really up to your budget which one you're willing to spend. Best suggestion is have a set of budget and then go to a guitar shop near you and ask anyone in the shop to help you choose a guitar based on your budget and preference i.e. electric, acoustic or classical.
4. Last but not the least is the size of the guitar. It may not be important to some but I think it is worth considering. I've seen kids struggle and even myself struggle when I was young in learning how to play the guitar because I had to use a full size guitar. Or I know someone who bought his daughter a full-size electric guitar that is heavy and bulky. Obviously they didn't know that it's more convenient for her to pickup and carry a small guitar plus easy for her to stretch her fingers and learn bar chords, etc. on a short-scale guitar. Guitar comes in different sizes starting from 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full size. Choose which one is the most comfortable for your kid's fingers.
