Lesson 8 G Major chord

G Major Chord

G chord is commonly used in fold, country music. Also used in Blues.  It is truly one powerful chord to learn.  It is a bit difficult to learn at first but once you get hold of it, you'll enjoy this chord because there's a long list of songs that starts with this chord.

G as a chord and as a shape. There are also variations to this chord. Will learn it as we go along but for now, will just use one shape or position for our G Major chord. And here's the chord chart illustration for our chord.

And here's the TAB illustration of our chord

Practise the chord in conjunction with other chords that we've learned so far i.e. Em, Am and D. But, the best partner of this chord is C, which we will learn on our next lesson. For now concentrate on G chord and the strumming we learned even just downstroke or other variations of strumming that you feel comfortable with. Keep practising.
