Lesson 5 A Major chord and 2/4 time signature

A Major Chord

We have learned previously about Em chord to E Major chord then going down to A minor chord plus strumming and plucking strings as well as using plectrum or pick. Now we will be learning the chord A Major or simply the "A" chord.  Also in this lesson we will re-enforce and learn more about the 2/4 time signature plus strumming and chord changing.

Tips:
1. Always make sure that you tune your guitar first before starting to learn new chords or even starting to play the guitar.
2. Always make sure that you are playing the right chord or string for that matter. So always refer to the chord chart or diagram.
3. When learning a chord, always check the strings one by one and make sure that it is working or playing nicely with no buzzing or muted string/strings.
4. Press the string properly, others would call this as press the strings firmly but sometimes when you overdo it, you will have the risk of making it out of tune because you are slightly bending the string. So find the right balance between pressing the string too lightly or too tight. My technique is when the string or strings are hitting the fret, and you can feel the fretboard on your fingers, that's suffice for the string to sound nicely. Otherwise, you are digging the fretboard already and your fingertips will be sore or worse, got loads of blisters.
5. Always find your sweet spot from holding the guitar, holding the plectrum, strap adjustment up to pressing the strings. Have faith in yourself, you will get that right balance. Playing the guitar is a combination of hearing yourself and having that good feel.  Good luck and all the very best.
